Irene is a trailblazing financial leader, with over 26 years of progressive experience in transforming financial institutions, building high-performing teams and delivering sustainable growth. She is a dual award-winner recognized by both CPA Uganda and ACCA Uganda in 2025. Irene brings a rare combination of strategic vision, regulatory expertise, and hands-on executive leadership.
Prior to joining the Bank, Irene served as Head of Finance at Pride Bank for 15 years. She was the Chairperson of the Committee that led the institution's transformation from a Microfinance Deposit-taking Institution into a fully licensed Tier II Credit Institution in 2024. Prior to joining Pride Bank, Irene served at the Bank of Uganda as Examiner-in-Charge and was a key contributor in drafting the foundational MDI regulations gazetted in 2004. Her career spans central banking, regulatory oversight, digital transformation, and crisis leadership.
Irene holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) and Master of Science in Finance & Accounting from Makerere University. She is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
