Nelson is an experienced ICT leader with over 20 years of expertise spanning telecommunications, utilities, and enterprise IT. He began his career in the United Kingdom with British Telecom and Virgin Media Group, where he supported large-scale network planning, capacity management, and infrastructure integration
projects.
He later joined Umeme Limited, where he served in progressive leadership roles including IT Service Delivery Manager and Chief Information Officer (CIO). In these roles, he led major digital transformation initiatives, including ERP implementation, smart metering systems, cloud migration, and enterprise IT governance
improvements.
He is currently the Chief ICT Officer at UEDCL, where he is responsible for establishing an independent ICT environment, defining the organisation’s technology roadmap and advising on ICT governance, cybersecurity, and risk management.
Nelson brings strong expertise in ICT governance, enterprise architecture, IT service management, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. He is known for delivering complex technology programmes, leading high-performing teams, and aligning ICT strategy with business objectives.
He holds a Master of Science in Computing from Birmingham City University and a Bachelor of Arts in Administration from Makerere University, and is certified in ITIL, Oracle technologies, and IAM Asset Management, with additional executive training from Strathmore University.
